It may be a cliché that a lot of business is done on the golf course, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that playing a round of golf provides a great opportunity to really get to know your playing partners

Uphoria’s first golfing event brought together business professionals from across the Thames Valley, to network and play golf at the Uphoria Masters on 23 October 2008.

The event was held at the Donnington Grove Country Club, a course set in 550 acres of rolling Berkshire countryside outside Newbury. The course combines two halves that are very different in character; the front nine is undulating on higher ground and has stunning views over the surrounding countryside, while the back nine is classic parkland, with an abundance of beautiful trees and water hazards.

The event delivered Uphoria’s combination of effective, focused networking while also allowing participants to experience an enjoyable day’s golf at a challenging course.

Trophy winners on the day included:

Steve Sharpley of Excell Dynamics, who won first prize and also nearest the pin Karl Brown of the Real Wood Company, who placed second and also struck the longest drive Ali Bahadar of Bartercard was placed third Brian Aldridge of BA Associates won nearest the pin in two Among those who enjoyed the day were Elton Boocock of sponsor Urban Media, who commented: “A big well done to Uphoria for a fantastic golf day.”

While Alistair Schreiber of Desert Lemon said: “It’s one of the best golf days I have played in – exceptional organisation, a wonderful course, and it enabled me to meet some amazing people.” Thanks go to the event’s sponsors Bartercard, Cannon Moorcroft, Car Lease Biz, Designer Golf Days, M Group, Nat West, Urban Media and Video Shoot Productions.
